According to reports, Amazon will launch its own NFT marketplace next month, with the option of having digital collectibles linked to physical goods delivered to customers’ doorsteps.

According to the information available so far, the marketplace will launch with 15 NFT collections for US-based customers before expanding globally.

NFT fans will be able to buy the digital collectibles using their Amazon accounts and debit or credit cards.

This will enable those who do not have access to a crypto wallet, such as Metamask, to purchase NFTs without first purchasing cryptocurrencies such as ethereum (ETH-USD).

According to reports, the Amazon NFT marketplace could be called either ‘Amazon NFT Marketplace’ or ‘Amazon Digital Marketplace’.

NFTs linked to physical goods delivered to customers’ doors

According to a report, once the initiative is launched, Amazon shoppers will be able to purchase fashion-oriented NFTs that are linked to physical clothing, such as jeans, trainers, and sweatshirts.

While the physical piece of clothing is being delivered to customers’ doorsteps, these NFTs will be delivered to their NFT accounts.

Nike is one clothing company that has been at the forefront of connecting NFTs with physical products.

In 2021, Nike acquired the virtual assets firm RTFKT, which was integrated into the new “Nike Virtual Studio” to unleash a series of Nike-branded NFTs.

Amazon’s NFT initiative has been in the works for several months.

Jeff Bezos’ tech and online retail conglomerate has been gradually incorporating more Web3 features into its platforms.

Blockworks, a crypto news outlet, reported in January that the world’s largest retailer was launching a digital assets venture involving NFTs.

Four sources told Blockwork’s in January that an Amazon NFT initiative is expected to be available to consumers worldwide in the spring.

In the same month, Amazon Web Services (AWS) partnered with web3 firm Ava Labs to accelerate blockchain technology adoption.
